The 63-storey skyscraper is designed as a reinforced concrete frame construction. The structure consists of a 10-storey building forming the base with a surface area of approx. 13,000 m² and the actual Elbtower. The tower is characterized by a continuously changing outline of the ceiling slabs with dimensions of 45 m x 35 m at ground level and 25 m x 50 m near the crown. Horizontal stability is provided in one direction by the core alone and in the other direction by this core and a set of outriggers, placed in the utility floors at approximately 1/3 and 2/3 of the tower height, activating the perimeter columns.

Hamburgs new landmark
At approximately 240 meters, the Elbtower will be the third tallest building in Germany and will find its place in Hamburg’s skyline by approaching the architectural heritage and the famous city silhouette with great respect. As prominent counterpart to the Elbphilharmonie in the west, by this core and a set of outriggers, placed in the utility floors at approximately 1/3 and 2/3 of the tower height it constitutes the eastern end of HafenCity. In addition to office workplaces for about 5,000 people, public and semi-public areas, such as a hotel, a conference center and shopping facilities are planned. The skyscrapers crown will also include a public terrace and a bar for visitors.
