GAZi-STADIUM
NEW CONSTRUCTION OF THE MAIN STAND FOR STUTTGARTER KICKERS

In the shadow of the famous Stuttgart landmark, the 217 meter high TV Tower, the football team Stuttgarter Kickers play their home games in the GAZi Stadium. A new main stand was necessary to meet the seating requirements of the German Football Association for games in the 3rd division.
As well as about 2300 seats, the 130 meter long and up to 30 meters wide stand also includes a hospitality area and other function rooms. At the rear of the building there is a distinctive 12 m cantilevering section suspended from the extended steel box girders of the stadium roof.

The GAZi Stadium is one of our numerous BIM projects. We were able to react very flexibly and rapidly to alteration requests thanks to the parametrical 3D model.

Thermal simulations for fire resistance for the external cantilevered steel girders as well as deformation and oscillation considerations presented a special challenge. The use of optimized 3D planning and maximum prefabrication enabled the completion of the primary structure in a record-breaking time of only 3 months, so that the stadium was able to re-open punctually after the winter break following about 9 months of total construction time.
